Day 6- June 4

A hike is on our agenda before it gets too hot.  There is a short hike up to the area where the Indians lived.  An old fort built by the tribe is located on top of a hill overlooking the area where the Missouri River flowed at the time of its existence. No one knows what the fort was used for.  There is also an area of burial mounds and the actual location of the village.  We also walked back down to the marsh and now are preparing for a trip into town.  Going to find a laundromat, car wash, grocery store and hopefully someplace with wi-fi.
Everything accomplished and back to camp.  We decided on another short hike before the mosquitoes get bad.  Discovered a nice lake that would be great for canoeing and fishing but we are ready to try to find some cooler weather so off we go again in the morning.
They have recently mowed here so we give Bocci ball another try.  I don’t know what my problem is on the competitive front.  I keep “letting” Jess win our Bocci ball matches and our cribbage games. Oh well, it is going to be a long summer.
Saw many frogs but couldn't get a picture for JayCee.

Posed for us on the way back to camp.

Where a fort had been built by the Missouri Indians.
