Day 4-June 2

Fortified with bacon and eggs then headed for the river.  The trip is supposed to take about 6 hrs. The midway point is here at the campgrounds, so we plan to stop then for some lunch before finishing the trip.  The river is swifter than we expected but it is absolutely beautiful.  Crystal clear to the point that even in the deepest spots we can still see the bottom.  We decided not to purchase out of state fishing licenses so all we can do is drool when the big ones dart by.  As clear as the water is they would probably be very difficult to catch anyway.  The river is full of turtles of all sizes. We also added two more snakes to our wildlife list.  One of them was definitely poisonous but as long as he kept going in the opposite direction we got along just fine.  The lunch break worked out great!  Had sandwiches and Jess took a little nap while I recharged my camera battery.  The afternoon trip was much quicker because another body of water joins the river we traveled this morning so the current is quite swift.  The water reminded us of the Kenai in Alaska because of its turquoise color.  The truck was right where the guy said it would be so we are back at camp after a wonderful day on the river.
Turtles of all sizes were enjoying the sunshine.

The water is so clear that the turtle can not hide.
